Resilient Cities 2010 Congress, Bonn, 28-30 May 2010. Invitation & Program

The Resilient Cities Congress 2010 held from 28 to 30 May 2010 in Bonn, Germany is the first annual global forum on urban resilience and adaptation to climate change.

We invite you to attend this unique forum for exchange. Please also disseminate the invitation among your colleagues and interested partners.

Deadline for registration is 8 May 2010, after this date 50 Euro extra have to be paid.  Register online at www.iclei.org/bonn2010/registration as soon as possible to also take advantage of the practical accommodation at the venue.

Mayors are given the opportunity to meet their peers at the Mayors Adaptation Forum (more on page 11) and Young Researchers are invited to meet in special rounds over the three days.

The congress, supported by a unique partnership between ICLEI and leading organizations in adaptation, contributes to the UNFCCC Nairobi Work Program on adaptation and acknowledges that climate change impacts are an ever-growing issue in urban areas.

The event will enhance exchange, learning, networking, debate and policy development on approaches and solutions to climate change adaptation for cities and local governments. It will also set the direction for future planning of and investment in urban infrastructure. A Mayors Declaration on Adaptation will result from this global gathering.

We expect hundreds of participants, representatives from local government, practitioners and leading thinkers on crucial topics such as resilient infrastructure, resource management, disaster  management, urban planning methodology, governance, and financing.
